Venture into Nature

  • Great Dividing Trail

The Great Dividing Trail is a hiking track that runs through the historical gold mining regions of Victoria. Located at the southern end of the Great Dividing Range, the entire trail is 280km long, made up of various smaller walks with numerous entry points.

The Lerderderg Track section of the trail is 80km long. It runs from Bacchus Marsh to Daylesford, through Lerderderg State Park, via Blackwood.

  • Lerderderg River

The Lerderderg River rises below the Blackwood Ranges, part of the Great Dividing Range, in the Lerderderg State Forest near Blackwood. The river flows along a meandering 40km course with the Lerderderg Gorge Picnic Ground, various camping sites, bush walking tracks and fishing spots along its banks.

A wide variety of wildlife and vegetation call the river valley home, all of which you can see on the various tracks around the river. As well as sightseeing, you can also enjoy the river's popular swimming spots.

  • Blackwood Recreation Reserve

Voted as one of Victoria’s “prettiest’’ ovals, Blackwood recreation reserve hosts many events throughout the year including the Easter Carnival, Music Festival, Gold panning championships, cricket matches and many weddings.

The Recreation Reserve is available for private hire, just contact us for more information.

  • Garden of St. Erth

The Garden of St Erth is a secluded getaway.  Each season has something to offer, including carpets of daffodils in spring, long-flowering flower borders in summer, an espalier fruit orchard and magnificent autumn garden colour.

During the Gold Rush, the site was a town of 13,000 people and feverish activity. Now, 160 years later, you can visit the last remaining stone cottage as the home of our garden shop. Here you can browse a wide range of incredible edibles, hardy perennials and shrubs and stock up on the full range of Diggers heirloom seeds for the vegetable and flower garden.
